I've done my best to go back through my (digital) reading history. It's a bit spotty, especially before 2017 or so I many of the dates are going to be off. Some other books are surely forgotten, and thus not listed.

= Highly influential for me. Changed me. Changed my thinking. "Life changing."

2024

In 2024 I began my plunge into Ecological Coaching and Psychology, though I don't feel like I had a grasp on any of that until 2025. Some sports coaching in general, too. I got around halfway into starting a Montessori preschool, which is where all the Montessori books come from. It was great to learn more about the method, regardless. Serendipitously, I'd say that Montessori and the Ecological Approach to teaching / learning have a lot of overlap.

2023

A Thousand Brains was a lucky hit for me. A book at just the right time. Helps to explain a lot of how our brain works. Later, in 2025, I started making connections between it and Ecological Psychology. It's led me to a number of hypothesis I'd have never landed on otherwise. The other big hit was Transfer of Learning. It probably took a year, but that helped me to shift my goalpost on what learning is. I think that most people don't set the bar of learning at "transfer," because transfer is so insanely hard to achieve. But as I read about Montessori, and Ecological Psychology, I started thinking I had ways to make Transfer the standard for successful learning.

2022

A mix of books about writing, parenting, and ways to make work better. We were coming out of the pandemic years, and everyone was feeling a bit down from it, I think. It was a bit of a reset year in terms of vibe at work. We had quite a few shakeups in terms of colleagues at work. It all worked out well, though I'm not sure how much these books helped with that. Maybe they did and I just don't remember. Also, On Bullshit is an incredible (and quick) read.

2021

The year of the Neil Postman kick. Really like what this guy is putting down.

In this year, I believe I start thinking about schools a bit more. Start getting an itch to start a school, or to get involved with general education. A few books related to education in here.

Did I not read this year? Was it all physical books? I suppose it was probably a busy year at Tofugu / WaniKani?

More Books

These books I couldn't figure out dates for. Some of these are physical books that I have or remember from my younger days. Others are old audibooks from iTunes, that lost their listened-to date in an update or a transfer from (now nonexistent) iTunes. These books are in no particular order.
